Short Term Outreaches
Visiting teams have a variety of options available to them for effective outreach ministry.
- Church planting projects: Visiting ministry teams can work alongside YWAM missionaries to plant churches in Amazon villages.
- Construction projects: Visiting teams can construct a church building for $2,000-3,000 (U.S. dollars) in an indigenous village. The primary construction material is wood. Working side-by-side with the indigenous believers, six carpenters can normally finish the building in one to two weeks.
- Medical/dental ministry: Medical teams are greatly needed to tend the sick in poor neighborhoods of Iquitos as well as in indigenous villages. Villages especially have much need of medical attention and simple instruction in hygiene.
- Bible Training: Licensed ministers and capable Bible teachers are needed to equip indigenous pastors and leaders in a training seminar format. Additionally, teams can come to equip the church in Biblical knowledge, Christian education, and children’s ministry.
- Children’s Ministry: We invite ministry teams to come and minister to children here in the Amazon. Children are much alike the world over – they need love and sound instruction. Often short-term missions teams prepare a VBS-type program for children here in Iquitos as well as in outlying villages.
- Music, Evangelism, and Arts Ministry: The performing arts are given important emphasis at our base. Evangelism is one of the core values of YWAM International. Well-prepared creative arts and evangelism teams can minister both in the city of Iquitos and the outlying indigenous villages.
- Service Ministry: Our large facility and grounds are always in need of some “TLC.” Teams can pitch in to help with remodeling and expansion projects that are in progress.
